Cyclone Jude: Road traffic restored on the N1 in Nampula

Ciclone Jude: Restabelecida a circulação rodoviária na N1 em Nampula

The land connection between the city of Nampula and Nacala-Porto, as well as with the coastal districts of Ilha de Moçambique, Mossuril and Memba, has already been restored through a detour opened in the Anchilo area, where the National Road Number One (N1) was cut following tropical storm Jude.

According to a NewsThis was announced yesterday, Monday (17), by the spokesman for the provincial executive council, Williamo Tuzine, at the end of another government session.

"With the opening of a bypass in the affected area, the movement of people and vehicles has resumed, which is contributing to the recovery, albeit gradual, of economic activity," the same publication said.

In addition, traffic between the districts of Rapale and Mecubúri, which had also been disrupted, was restored. The road closures in various sections generated huge queues of vehicles transporting people and goods, including fuel, with a negative impact on the region's economy and beyond.
