Cabo Delgado: "Terrorists are forming a new base in the Quissanga district" - people warn

Cabo Delgado: “Terroristas estão a formar uma nova base no distrito de Quissanga” – alertam populares

People in the Quissanga district of Cabo Delgado are warning that Islamic State elements may be establishing a new base in the forests of that region.

A publication by Letter from Mozambique says that the alert comes after information circulated that terrorists were seen last weekend in some fields in the production area known as Ntapuati.

"They went through the fields, but they didn't hurt anyone. They told them to work as they pleased," says the same publication, quoting local sources, stressing that the farmers were caught by surprise harvesting and scraping cassava to dry.

Other Quissanga residents suspect that the terrorists seen in the Tororo area may be part of those who fled the offensives by the Defense and Security Forces and Rwandan troops in the Mucojo Administrative Post, Macomia district.

However, one of the sources assured that life in the district headquarters of Quissanga, Bilibiza and Mahate is going on normally, judging by the course of the measles vaccination campaign launched yesterday (Monday) throughout the district, where mobile brigades are touring the villages without any difficulty.
