General elections: Candidates copy each other's election promises during the campaign

Eleições gerais: Candidatos copiam entre si as promessas eleitorais durante a campanha

Industrializing Mozambique to create jobs for young people and improving road infrastructures are some of the proposals that the four candidates for the Presidency of the Republic have put forward in the course of the electoral campaign taking place in the country..

For the 25th day in a row, the candidates for the Presidency of the Republic have taken to the streets to campaign for the October 9 election, announcing their promises if they are elected, according to a publication by the VOA.

It is in this vein that candidate Venâncio Mondlane, who has the support of PODEMOS, plans to force the transfer of the headquarters of the mining companies operating in Tete from Maputo to this part of the country, so that the taxes they pay benefit the population.

According to the same publication, Mondlane promised to renegotiate the contracts of the large companies operating in the country.

Renamo's candidate, Ossufo Momade, continues to hunt for votes in Nampula and one of the projects he presents is related to the creation of three capital cities in Mozambique.

Momade is also committed to reviving the large industries that once operated in the country.

Also promising to reopen factories and create more jobs for young people is Lutero Simango, the MDM candidate who is also seeking votes in Nampula. Fighting corruption is another of Simango's manifestos.

Daniel Chapo, the Frelimo candidate, promises to improve road infrastructure, as well as extend the water supply and mobile telephony. Reactivating industries to create jobs for young people is another of Chapo's bets, like Momade and Simango.

In the meantime, despite the coincidences in some of their electoral promises, all the candidates in the elections have drawn thousands of Mozambicans to their campaign rallies.
