"Bye bye Festive Season! Venâncio Mondlane ponders Christmas and New Year's Eve demonstrations

“Bye bye Quadra Festiva”!: Venâncio Mondlane pondera manifestações no Natal e Réveillon

The Christmas and transition year in Mozambique could lead to demonstrations, as the independent presidential candidate, Venâncio, warned this evening Mondlane.

In the candidate's view, the Constitutional Council (CC) intends to take advantage of the festive season to publicize the results of the general elections on March 9. October and divert the focus away from the demonstrations to restore the electoral truth.

In a direct on a social media page, he said that the ongoing demands require sacrifices. He therefore said that Mozambicans should prepare for an atypical festive season.

"O CC wants to present the election results close to Christmas. Let's start thinking now, preparing ourselves psychologically and emotionally to say bye bye this year. bye christmas! bye bye end-of-year parties!" he warned.

Mondlane accuses the Frelimo regime of wanting to stay in power at any cost, using the festive season as a strategy to deceive the people and legitimize the results announced by the National Electoral Commission.
Mondlane believes that the plan is to move forward with the results at that time because it's when people are vulnerable to mortgaging their sobriety and their ability to discern the country's situation. "That's the idea. They're hoping that, with these parties, we'll forget about the country, the injustices, the electoral truth, the people who were murdered and that we want to organize our country. That's the hope of this regime," he said.
