Mozambique received on Friday 1,209,600 doses of Johnson & Johnson vaccine donated by Belgium and the Government of Flanders, as part of the Covax Initiative.
According to a press release from the Embassy of Belgium, an additional supply of 1,188,000 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be made to the country in the coming weeks through GAVI/Covax.
The two vaccine donations will total 2.4 million doses. To contribute to solving the global health crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, Belgium has committed to share 4 million of its vaccine doses with Third World countries by the end of 2021, through Covax and through the European Union's sharing mechanism.
