ADB ready to continue supporting Mozambique in development projects

The president of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Akinwumi Adesina, assured this Saturday (15) that his institution is available to support the granting of a guarantee fund to enable Mozambique to access credit from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and other financial institutions.

The intention was expressed during an audience that the President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo, granted to Adesina on the sidelines of the 38th Ordinary Session of the Conference of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU) taking place in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia.

The African Development Bank is supporting various projects in Mozambique in the areas of energy, agriculture, among others.

At this 38th Ordinary Session of the African Union, the Heads of State are also addressing the promotion of mechanisms to repair the damage caused by centuries of injustice and other crimes committed against Africans as a result of transatlantic trade, the establishment of colonial systems and minority regimes.

The summit also discusses the peace and security situation in Africa; the African Union's participation in the G20; the UN Security Council Reform Process and the elections for the African Union's senior leadership.

On this trip, the President of the Republic will be accompanied by the First Lady, Gueta Semelane Chapo; the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Maria Manuela dos Santos Lucas; Education and Culture, Samaria dos Anjos Filemon Tovela, as well as staff from the Presidency of the Republic and other state institutions.
