The Mafalala Museum, located in the neighborhood of the same name in the city of Maputo, will host a show to raise donations for the flood victims in Boane, Maputo province.
The event is scheduled for Friday, starting at 6pm, and is organized by the Association of Mozambican Dancers (ABAM), in partnership with the Mafalala Museum and the National Volunteer Council (CNV).
The aim of the event is to help the victims of the floods which, in the recent past, have killed people, displaced families and jeopardized the dreams of many children.
"Aware of the vulnerability of the people affected by the floods, especially in Boane, the organization of the event has established that basic necessities, such as drinking water, non-perishable food, school supplies, basic hygiene items (diapers, sanitary towels, soap, toothpaste, etc.), clothes, blankets, among others, correspond to the tickets for the show," reads the press release.
Among those associated with the event are dance groups and cultural associations, such as the Xindiro, Milorho, Hodi, Wuchene, Comunichiv cultural associations, the groups: Maquinista and Human Sculptures; the Khani Khedi and the Makwerhu Arts Company.
"There will be a rich diversity of dances on stage, as well as theater and much more. The show is part of a programme of recreational activities, under the responsibility of a joint team that, on the morning of the same day (24/02), will work on the ground, promoting psychosocial support initiatives, in order to reduce the impact of the floods on those directly affected," the event's organizers said in a statement.
