The 2nd edition of the International Conference "Crescendo Azul" starts today, Thursday, in the city of Vilankulo, Inhambane province. This is an event organized by the Ministry of Sea, Inland Waters and Fisheries that aims to promote an economy based on the oceans.
The event will bring together about 1,500 people, including experts and governments from various countries, to reflect on the future and health of the oceans and the various forms of sustainable investment in the sea.
The opening ceremony will be led today by the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi.
Under the motto "investing in the ocean's health is investing in the future of the planet", according to the governor of Inhambane province, Daniel Chapo, the conference is seen as an opportunity to find mechanisms to curb global warming, rising oceans, and the proliferation of extreme weather events.
"This conference brings not only gains to the sea and fishing sector, but especially in the tourism sector for our region," said Daniel Chapo.
