The Minister of Transport, Ricardo de Abreu, representing the Angolan government, launched this week, an international public tender for the design, construction, operation and commercial management of the first two logistics platforms in Angola, in the municipality of Soyo and Luvo, in the province of Zaire, north of the country.
The two platforms are estimated to cost $61 million. Interested parties should submit their applications by January 6, 2022.
The Concessions are under the responsibility of the Angolan Regulatory Agency for Cargo and Logistics (ARCCLA). And the objective is to promote growth and private investment in the National Network of Logistics Platforms-RNPL.
In addition, the government plan aims to contribute to the diversification of the local economy by increasing efforts in the areas of agribusiness and industry, promoting efficiency, and diversifying services.
The Angolan government recognizes that the country's logistical infrastructures are currently facing difficulties of various kinds, since they are in the initial phase of development. Thus, it assumes that the concession that will be held in the long term may change the current scenario for the better.
Soyo Logistics Platform, with an area of 15 hectares, is located near the National Road 100, which connects Soyo to the province of Luanda, the country's capital. The infrastructure plan includes the construction of five ambient temperature warehouses and another of controlled temperature... and also foresees the adjacent construction of a dry port, of 25 hectares. The total infrastructure budget is 24 million dollars to be managed for about 30 years.
And the Luvo Logistics Platform will occupy 18 hectares on the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo. The infrastructure will have six warehouses, four of which will be at room temperature and two at controlled temperature. The estimated investment is around 37 million dollars.
