Angola exempts CPLP citizens from paying for visas

Angola isenta pagamento de vistos a cidadãos da CPLP

The Angolan Minister of State and Economic Coordination, José de Lima Massano, announced that citizens of CPLP or G20 countries will be exempt from paying for a business or tourist visa for up to 30 days when traveling to Angola.

A The measure is part of a legislative package aimed at stimulating and boosting the economy, which was presented at the end of the 5th meeting of the Economic Commission of the Council of Ministers, held on Friday (14).

The Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) is made up of nine member states: Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Portugal, Mozambique, São Tomé and Príncipe and East Timor.

The G20 is made up of 19 countries (Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States of America) and the European Union.

José de Lima Massano also announced measures to support exports, such as the Single Support Desk for Exporters, and access to land, with the Single Window for Granting Land Rights, which will facilitate access to land and its registration.

"There are various entities that intervene in the export process, not always with the necessary coordination, which in some cases leads to losing space to place products on the domestic market, conditioning the path of diversification of the economy and generation of foreign exchange resources," he said.

As far as commercial activity is concerned, prior authorization will no longer be required for activities that do not require a commercial license, and notification to the municipal authority will suffice.

The Angolan minister stressed that the executive wants the measures to come into force as soon as possible, without setting any deadlines, but imposing a deadline of the end of the year. (noam)
