The President of the Republic (PR), Filipe Nyusi, said today in South Korea that Mozambique is still a new country. player in the gas sector.
Speaking at a press conference, he said that, in the position the country finds itself in, the best thing to do is to draw on the experiences of those who are more advanced in the process of exploiting natural resources.
"As far as we're concerned, we're just jumping into the gas area and then we'll be able to take our time because we'll be autonomous," said Nyusi, who took part in the first Korea-Africa summit.
Nevertheless, Filipe Nyusi said that Mozambique continued to defend its position on what it considers a fair energy transition.
"At that point we could be discussing clean energies and so on, considering the diversity of the country's energy resources," he said at the end of his visit to the country.
On the occasion, the president said that the meetings with the Korean government served to assess the possibility of more investment in Cabo Delgado's projects, despite the armed insecurity. "But we also assumed our responsibility for security".
The PR made a positive assessment of the meetings in South Korea, defining it as a meeting to discover opportunities.
"There are experiments we want to commission."
