The company Águas da Região Metropolitana de Maputo SA - AdRMM promoted, Sunday, June 5, in Boane district, Maputo province, under the slogan "One Earth", the planting of trees in order to preserve the environment.

The act comes at a time when the country and the world are facing the triple environmental emergency of biodiversity loss, disruption, and increasing pollution.

In this context, AdRMM has developed actions to preserve the ecosystem, observing environmental standards.

On the occasion, Castigo Álvaro Cossa, Chairman of the Board of Directors (PCA) of AdRMM, mentioned that the movement started, should unite government, business and citizens in an unprecedented effort to heal the Earth, in order to drive a transformation that will contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

"The task is colossal. We must plant and protect the environment. AdRMM is the main actor in the water supply service. We brought the children to this place to teach them that in the future they will need this resource, which must be used rationally," explained Castigo Álvaro Cossa.

In his turn, António Cossa, permanent secretary of the district of Boane, stressed the importance of the sensitization of the populations in the preservation of the environment, having pointed out some institutions that saw their licenses deactivated, due to the pollution of the ecosystem.

"We here in the district always promote awareness actions about deforestation and pollution of rivers, through the department of environment. For the maintenance of the underground sources, as surface sources, the less dirty the river water, the less needs," concluded the governor.
