Lawyer Elvino Dias revealed yesterday in Maputo that he had been in the crosshairs of death squad guns and that the only reason he wasn't martyred was because of a lack of ammunition.
After leaving the Attorney General's Office (PGR), he noted, without fear, that threats to his physical integrity and that of his client were "daily bread".
At the PGR, Elvino Dias submitted two separate criminal complaints against the National Electoral Commission and the Frelimo party.
He did not specify the date on which the plan to assassinate him was to be implemented. He did say, however, that intimidation began from the very first step in the attempts against the regime of the day.
Venâncio Mondlane's lawyer was reacting to a question about rumors that a plan was being orchestrated within the State Information and Security Service (SISE) to silence Venâncio Mondlane.
Remember, During his visit to Inhambane province on August 18, Venâncio Mondlane escaped an alleged assassination attempt.. In the act, the bearer of the "murder weapon" was identified, an agent of the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM). A few days later, the PRM downplayed the incident, but confirmed that the "confiscated" weapon belonged to the corporation. O PRM commander general says there are no internal intentions to assassinate any political party candidate.
