Absa Bank Moçambique supports the development of fashion talents at MFW

Absa Bank Mozambique is the official partner-bank of the 17th edition of Mozambique Fashion Week (MFW), the biggest national fashion event that started on Tuesday (07), in Maputo.

Tânia Oliveira, Director of Customer Service at Absa stressed the importance of this partnership by mentioning that "the partnership with MFW allows us to contribute to the promotion of national culture and take new talent beyond borders.

This year's MFW features a diversity of activities, which establish the marriage between fashion and culture with the aim of creating a sustainable ecosystem for the promotion of Mozambican talents and brands launched across borders.

On his turn, Vasco Rocha, General Director of DDB Mozambique, organizer of the event, emphasized the role of MFW in the valorization of national culture and promotion of gender equity.

"the MFW came to show us that it is possible to identify and value young Mozambican talents and to increasingly value the issues of gender equality, inclusion, equity and diversity, while at the same time we boost awareness actions for the use of reusable and sustainable materials," he said.

The responsible took the opportunity to recognize the commitment of Absa Bank Mozambique with and issues of cultural valorization, gender equality and sustainability.

Absa Bank Mozambique and MFW and have been developing several actions to support Mozambican designers. Last year, the Bank transformed its Premier branch in Maputo into a fashion gallery, promoting a group of 18 designers. In parallel, it instituted the 'Africanicidade' award, challenging artists to come up with a concept that represented African roots, in the context of pan-Africanism and valorization of origins, culminating with the exhibition of a collection of artifacts by the renowned Mozambican artist Malangatana Valente Ngwenha.
