The mobile phone operator Moçambique Telecom (Tmcel) denounced this Friday (07) the occurrence of acts of vandalization of infrastructure in various parts of Maputo city, leaving several customers without access to telecommunications services, including voice and data.
According to Tmcel, this involves the destruction of "cabinets located on the sidewalks" containing equipment essential to the operation of the network, a situation that has affected customers in the downtown areas of the city, Matola, Polana, Alto-Maé and Malhangalene.
In a statement, the operator assures that efforts are being made to restore services as soon as possible, stressing that it has been investing in raising community awareness and liaising with the authorities to reinforce vigilance and prevent further incidents.
"The vandalization of these infrastructures seriously compromises the provision of services. We call on all citizens to be vigilant and help protect the equipment that guarantees the functioning of telecommunications," Tmcel said in the statement.
