Cabo Delgado/ TotalEnergies: Maxime Rabilloud assegura continuidade do projecto Mozambique LNG

The President of TotalEnergies in Mozambique, Maxime Rabilloud, assured this week in Pemba that the project to explore liquefied natural gas (LNG) in Area 1 of the Rovuma Basin will continue.

Cabo Delgado: TotalEnergies suspends subcontracts for Mozambique LNG project

"Everyone knows that we're still in a Force Majeure situation. I can even give you perspectives on that, but at the moment of Force Majeure, there is obviously no restart of the project yet. In the meantime, we are doing a lot of work to preserve and prepare for a restart. These works are not necessarily continuous... Some of these works, when they come to an end, are demobilized to make way for others," he said.

However, he clarified that, as this is a funded project, the resumption of operating activities depends on the decisions of the funding partners. But also, the issue of security for the lifting of the Force Majeure will be an imperative for the restart of the project.

"The Mozambique LNG project is funded, it's still at the stage of having some confirmations from some banks for that funding. So confirmations of this financing are very important. We hope that in the coming months we'll have good news that will allow us to position ourselves better and in a situation where security improves every month. In the next few months we'll be in a better position to be able to see that the Major Force is no longer here," he said in an interview with a journalist after a meeting with the Governor of the province.

On the other hand, Rabilloud said that TotalEnergies will continue to work closely with the national business sector to promote local content.
