This Saturday, February 22, the city of Maputo is hosting the international poetry and performing arts festival - Poetas d'Alma, with the opening dedicated to children, under the slogan: "Lanterna de Sonhos" (Lantern of Dreams), at the Fernando Leite Couto Foundation.
According to the organizers, this children's event will include a book fair, poetry recitations accompanied by musical performances, visual arts, a magic show, music, dance and other artistic disciplines.
The event aims to influence youngsters and their guardians to cultivate the spirit of educational art consumption so that they can position themselves in society with an elegant and intellectual attitude.
This sixth edition of the itinerant and multidisciplinary festival comes after the postponement in November 2024.
In addition to the national artists, there are also artists from eSwatini, South Africa, Namibia, Portugal, Brazil, Spain, Italy, Argentina, Cuba and the USA, among others.
The event, which celebrates art as a healing tool for society, includes creative writing workshops, ceramics workshops, short film screenings, poetry and acoustic music recitals, guided tours of various art exhibitions on display in galleries in and around Maputo, round tables and debates on artist mobility.
