The National Teachers' Organization (ONP) has come out against the strike announced by the National Association of Mozambican Teachers (ANAPRO) in protest at the non-payment of the 13th salary.
Quoted by Rádio Moçambique, the Secretary General of the ONP said that the total stoppage of activities in the education sector could jeopardize the holding of the special exams for elementary school pupils, scheduled for this week, as well as the start of the 2025 school year.
Teodoro Muidumbe also said that his organization had been excluded from the debates on the strikes.
Civil servants, including teachers, began a nationwide strike on Monday (20.01), demanding full payment of the 13th salary as a condition for returning to work.
