Natural gas production in the Búzi basin could advance in 2026

Produção de gás natural na bacia do Búzi pode avançar em 2026

The Director of Research and Production at the National Hydrocarbons Company (ENH), Rudêncio Morais, predicted on Tuesday (03) that natural gas production in the Búzi basin, in the central province of Sofala, could begin in 2026, once the customer has already been secured.

The product will also be used to power the thermoelectric plant in Sofala, and the discovery is currently being evaluated so that a development plan can be submitted to the government by the end of this year.

On the other hand, he said that work is underway to acquire 1,050 kilometers of two-dimensional seismic by an Indonesian company, with the participation of ENH technicians.

This work will be completed by the end of November this year in the northern area of the basin, "with the southern area expected to start in December 2024".

Rudêncio Morais was speaking on the sidelines of the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum in Bali.

Búzi Hydrocarbonet holds 75% of the operating block and the remaining 25% belong to ENH, representing the Mozambican state. (Source and image: News)
