Governo anuncia concessão da ponte sobre o rio Zambeze, na província de Tete

On Tuesday (20), the government, through the Ministry of Public Works, Housing and Water Resources, and the company Estradas do Zambeze signed an addendum to the concession contract for the Kassuende bridge, located over the Zambezi River in Tete province, central Mozambique..

The signing of this addendum, according to the government, will allow, among other actions, the extension of the concession contract for another five years in order to make additional investments viable, the phased implementation of interventions on five highways, totaling 700 kilometers, as well as the construction of three new toll plazas and two service and maintenance centers.

"The roads to benefit from interventions are the Tete-Cassacatiza (276 kilometers); Cuchamano-Changara (48 kilometers); Changara-Tete (90 kilometers); Tete-Zóbuè (120 kilometers); and Mussacama-Calómuè (162 kilometers)," says the government, through the Ministry of Public Works.

For the Minister for Public Works, Carlos Mesquita, "this addendum will guarantee the economic viability of the concession, including the redistribution of risks between the concessionaire and the government".

For the chairman of the board of directors of Estradas do Zambeze, Aníbal Leite, "the act marks the beginning of a more complex and challenging phase that will require joint and coordinated efforts".
