Seven airlines have already resumed flights from other destinations to Mozambique, after the interruption during the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Mozambique.
The institution's Report on the Performance of the Air Transport Market, quoted by Notícias, indicates, in addition to Mozambique Airlines, TAAG Angola Airlines, TAP Air Portugal, SA Airlink, Qatar, Turkish, Kenya Airways and Ethiopian Airlines.
Last year, the aviation sector in Mozambique contributed 13.9% to the growth of the Transport and Communications sector.
Passenger traffic at national airports grew by 20%, to almost two million passengers, with Maputo Airport contributing the most.
In the same period, aircraft movements grew by seven percent, with an increase in cargo of around 26%.
By the end of last year, the country had 14 operators running commercial air services, including two running scheduled domestic and international services, and nine with non-scheduled domestic and regional services, and 88 registered aircraft. (Source: Notícias. Image: DR)
