On Sunday (25), the National Migration Service (SENAMI) administratively expelled Angolan citizen Gerson Emanuel Quintas "Man-Genas".
His wife, Clemência Suzete Vumi, and their two young children also went to Angola with him, according to a document we have seen.
Man-Genas and his family arrived in Mozambique clandestinely in February 2023, claiming persecution in Angola by drug traffickers involving high-ranking Angolan police and politicians.
In March 2023, SENAMI refused a first request from Angola to extradite Man-GenasDespite the irregular situation in Mozambique, the law provides for "a limitation on expulsion".
The Angolan citizen is a former member of a group of martial arts practitioners created more than 20 years ago. The group has often been accused of being linked to crime and drug trafficking. Man-Genas allegedly revealed links between politicians and drug traffickers.
During his stay in Mozambique, Man-Genas went through some critical times, including a decline in his health and the loss of his newborn daughter. In fact, his wife at the time, alleged human rights violations, and that the death had been ordered. In April 2023, a delegation from the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA) was in Maputo and was prevented from visiting angolan citizen. The MPs said that their fellow citizen feared death by poisoning in Mozambique.
