Industrial food production in Mozambique is expected to reach almost 40 billion dollars by 2024, thanks to new plants coming on stream.
Write the News that the impact of this increase in factories will be in the order of 3.7%. The figures are contained in the supporting document for the State Budget's Economic and Social Plan.
Among the factories due to open their doors in the first year is one that will process 1,300 tons of organic sugar and 172,800 liters of alcohol gel a year, in Chiúre, Cabo Delgado province. The plant is expected to create 16 jobs.
A cashew nut processing plant is to be set up in the village of Massinga, capable of processing 50 tons a day. It is expected to open its doors to employ 500 workers.
On the other hand, the government expects the production of alcoholic beverages to reach 23.363 million meticais. Tobacco production is expected to stand at 7,567 million meticais.
