The Minister of Health says he is open to dialogue with the Association of United Health Professionals of Mozambique (APSUSM) to find solutions to the concerns that forced a national strike, the first day of which yesterday was marked by the absence of some staff from health facilities.
A few days ago, health workers announced a 25-day strike, starting on June 1, as a way of pressuring the government to improve wages, working conditions and food for hospitalized patients. This comes after several failed attempts at negotiations.
According to VOA, the Ministry of Health (MISAU) refused to talk to the group on the grounds that it was not recognized.
However, Armindo Tiago said that the government is open to dialog with the class, as this is the best way forward.
"We are in a position to talk and solve the problems that our colleagues have, those that have solutions; there are issues in life that don't have solutions, but those solutions must be made together with all health professionals," said Tiago.
