Just after the final whistle, Roger Schmidt, speaking to BTV, said that the team had managed to achieve the objectives set at the start of the season, and he was happy for the fans.

"It's been a long struggle throughout the season. We need the last game to win. We're very relieved. The team deserved it. We did it and we're happy for our fans, who are the great motivation. We know they're happy after four years without a title. Today is a great day for Benfica," said the German coach.

For the Benfica fans, Schmidt stressed that "I've already told them, the fans have been with us all season, it would have been impossible without them, I wish them a great summer."
