Video referee who recommended the expulsion of Vinícios Jr is dismissed

Vídeo árbitro que recomendou expulsão de Vinícios Jr é demitido

The Spanish Federation and the Referees' Technical Committee have decided to dismiss referee Iglesias Villanueva, who was responsible for the VAR in the match between Real Madrid and Valencia, in which Vini Jr was sent off and the target of racist slurs from supporters.

In the sending-off, Hugo Duro and Mamardashvili assaulted Vini Jr beforehand and didn't receive a red card after the review, only the Brazilian, who retaliated with an arm movement.

Even with the review of the move, the VAR image only showed Vini's alleged aggression. Five other referees were also sent off for their work.

Villanueva's resignation won't take effect until next week because he will be at the Betis-Getafe match.

However, the red card given to the Brazilian player was annulled.

"The RFEF Competition Committee considers that the referee's assessment was determined by the omission of the entire match that took place, which affected the referee's decision," said the Spanish Football Federation.

Seven people accused of various crimes of racism against Vinicius were arrested by the Spanish police on Tuesday.

The RFEF also announced that it has fined the club 45,000 euros (73,325 dollars) and that the south stand of Valencia's stadium will be partially closed for five matches.
