The sun was already setting in the capital, last October 29th, and with it the Maktub collection from Mina Brand, also inspired by the sunset tones of Mozambique Island, shone at the Polana Serena Hotel in a true session of refinement, glamour and feminine excellence, where vibrant and neutral tones dominated the runway, wowing the audience with the diversity and creativity in the design of the pieces.
The models presented made reference to the Persian origin which allowed those present to travel back in time witnessing classic and contemporary models in fusion to the delight of fashion lovers, in a moment when authenticity and lightness took the manifesto of feminine power with elegance.
For designer Shaazia Adam the show "managed to aggregate more than we expected, the Mina concept was truly represented, Mina means "I" in Xangana and through this brand and the Maktub collection presented, we wanted all women to feel represented and identified in the pieces, we didn't notice the age group, the physical type, from the most irreverent to the most reserved, we exalted the woman's potential through the fashion lines.
For his part, the Commercial Director of the Polana Osvaldo Inguane, considered "for us the choice of Shaazia Adam for the celebration of this date was very assertive, as a hotel, and that marks the 100 years are a true testimony of resilience, we had two atypical years because of Covid-19, we wanted several times to close the hotel but we did not, we were one of the few instances in Mozambique that did not fire even one employee during the pandemic, and this fact shows how important the 100 years of the Polana are".
Exalting the potential of Women, the celebration of Polana's 100th anniversary was marked by a convivial session among those present who enjoyed drinks to the taste of Martini, diversified gastronomy of the house, fashion pop up where the guests acquired first hand the pieces presented in the fashion show.
The collection, composed of 33 models, was conceived based on natural fibers, timeless lines, versatile and modern designs thought for different occasions, marking Mina's first independent fashion show.
Mina was conceived during the Covid-19 pandemic and is a sustainable 70% brand, designed by Mozambican artists in the brand's atelier, where standard size and ready-to-sell pieces are produced. The brand leverages natural fibers, linen and cotton with a strong concern for sustainability, with a view to favoring the environment and the Mozambican climate.
