The Prime Minister, Adriano Maleiane, considers it imperative to improve the mechanisms that allow the strengthening of the link between social recovery and the issues of gender, inclusion, and the environment.
This claim was made yesterday, in the city of Beira, Sofala province, at the High Level Meeting on Pre-Assessment Post-Cyclones Idai and Kenneth, an event that brought together in the same room representatives of the Government and international cooperation partners.
On the occasion, Maleiane considered that the execution of the projects is slow due to the lack of flexibility and multiplicity of administrative procedures in the disbursement of funds by the financiers. Of the US$ 3.4 billion needed for reconstruction, only US$ 1.2 billion has been made available.
"We therefore consider that partners should continue to mobilize more funds for the implementation of programs that ensure greater adaptation and resilience, as well as disaster risk management in the face of climate change," Maleiane said.
The governor noted the lack of articulation and coordination between the various actors in this process, namely the government, communities, private sector, and partners.
