The Provincial Office for the Fight against Corruption in Tete, accuses the former administrator of Chiúta and current first secretary of Frelimo of the same province (Tete) of involvement in a scheme of crime of public funds in about one million Meticais

According to information advanced by Diário de Notícias, which also cites a document of the Central Office for Combating Corruption that it accessed, the act of embezzlement of public funds will have occurred between 2019 and 2021, at the time when Gonçalves João Jemusse, current first provincial secretary of Frelimo in Tete, was administrator of the district of Chiúta.

In the document, the Provincial Office for the Fight against Corruption in Tete accuses five other officials assigned to the District Secretariat of Chiúta and with access to the Electronic Registration System for Public Employees, e-CAF, of being part of the embezzlement of the amount in reference.

According to the source, besides Gonçalves Jemusse, the permanent secretary, a budget manager, a technician from the Finance Department, a personnel manager, and a head of the Local Administration and Civil Service Department are involved.

The Provincial Anti-Corruption Bureau says the six officials have committed crimes of embezzlement, falsification of documents, abuse of office or function, payment of undue remuneration, and economic participation in business.
