Moza banco and IFAD sign rural funds management contract

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development through the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and Moza Banco have just signed an Agreement for the Management of a Rural Enterprise Finance Project Fund (REFP) until September 2024.

This is a project whose objective is to contribute to the improvement of household livelihoods in rural areas, as well as to increase the availability of affordable, accessible, innovative, and appropriate access and use of sustainable and inclusive financial services and technical support services.

The project will be implemented through three technical components, most notably the enhanced access to adaptable financial services for rural entrepreneurs component, consisting of a Graduation, Innovation and Expansion Promotion Program, an Investment Mobilization Fund and a Credit Line, all under Moza's Management.

Avelino Jeque, the director of International Investment Banking at Moza Banco, guaranteed Rigor, Transparency, Integrity and Ethics in the management of the funds received. "It is our objective, as a bank owned by and for Mozambicans, with deep knowledge of the local reality, to play an active role in the development of the country, working with various entities, and in particular with the government of the Republic of Mozambique at all levels for this desideratum," concluded Jeque.

In his turn, the coordinator of the Project of Financing Rural Enterprises, Rufino Duvane, defended that the signature of the contract with Moza Banco constitutes a great step for the materialization of the objectives of the project, which will allow the attainment of the main goal that is the access of financial services by the rural entrepreneurs. "We hope that in the short term the results resulting from this contract can be achieved with the conviction and the certainty that Moza Banco will know how to take this boat to a good port".

The representative of Moza Banco also congratulated the government and other partners for their commitment and vision, which has already shown concrete and encouraging results.
