The government guarantees that it will invest in the implementation of the special agro-industrial processing zone in Niassa province, in order to stimulate the increase of production and agricultural productivity in the region.
To this end, according to the newspaper Notícias, the Council of Ministers on Tuesday considered information on the launch of the project for the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone of the Pemba-Lichinga Integrated Development Corridor (ZEPA).
With the investments to be made in the corridor, an increase in agricultural production is expected in an area with high growth potential, taking small producers from subsistence agriculture to a competitive, inclusive, and wealth-generating agro-industry.
With this project, the Government intends to ensure the development of agribusiness to generate surpluses that can be commercialized and processed later to add value.
The first phase of the project should focus on strengthening institutional capacity and the business environment for agro-industrial development, as well as agricultural productivity and entrepreneurship skills to improve the development of the agricultural value chain.
