Government negotiates with IMF the return of financial support

The Mozambican government and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) met on Monday to analyze direct support for the State General Budget (OGE).

The support had been cut since 2016 as part of the discovery of hidden debts. As a result, the country stopped receiving $467 million from foreign donors. According to information advanced and quoted by "O País" the virtual negotiations will end on February 11. The Bank of Mozambique is also expected to participate in this negotiation process.

The government is represented at the meeting by the Minister of Economy and Finance, Adriano Maleiane.
