The National Inspection of Economic Activities (INAE) announced today, in Maputo, the existence of stock of general consumption products to meet the demand during the Festive Season.
Last week, the city of Maputo saw a shortage of chicken, and regarding this product, INAE spokesman Joaquim Langa assured that during the festive season there will be no shortage in the markets.
"So far the information we have is that there is enough stock...and work is being done to import that product [chicken]" said Langa, without advancing the quantity that will be purchased in the international market.
On the same occasion, the also Head of INAE's Department of Operations Education, Culture and Sports, announced the launch of "Operation Kudjondissa" aimed at monitoring and raising awareness of economic agents for compliance with the rules governing their operations, with the main focus on catering and general trade.
The operation started on December 6, 2021, and in the first week, until December 12, INAE inspected 40 catering establishments in the Katembe and Kanyaka municipal districts, and 13 general trade units in the districts "that we consider problematic," Kamaxaquene, Kamavota and Kamubukwana.
INAE also said that it is paying special attention to the inspection of the sale of construction cements, in a joint work with the Police of the Republic of Mozambique and the Municipal Council of the City of Maputo.
Thus, in those "problem" districts it was found that warehouses selling construction cement are vulnerable to weather and moisture, poor preservation and non-compliance with storage recommendations, as well as selling after the storage time expiration date.
