Sustainability is the theme of Mozambique's participation in ExpoDubai, and the Portuguese-speaking country intends to take advantage of its seventh presence in the United Arab Emirates to expand economic relations between the two countries, said the Mozambican commissioner general, Miguel Costa Mkaima, quoted by Lusa.
The seventh edition of Expo Dubai that kicked off on October 1 has the theme "Connecting Minds, Creating the Future", with three districts: sustainability, opportunity, and mobility, which in the form of petals converge at Al Wasl square, considered the 'heart' of the world expo.
According to the Mozambican general commissioner, the choice of theme sustainability is justified by its framework with "our reality, especially in the perspectives of Mozambique's development, in the efforts that the country has been making.
"Sustainability fits well in this perspective" and in the theme of the exhibition at the Mozambique Pavilion, which is respecting nature, which is the greatest commitment to future generations," he said.
"And this is the theme that Mozambique is participating in Expo 2020 Dubai: nature, man, the future. This is also the first time that a world exposition is held in that region of the globe.
"This has a specific importance, of course it is the fact that it is the first Expo to take place in this region, but it is a region that has great potential in economic terms" and in its insertion in the world, he added.
"Mozambique has economic relations, of cooperation with the United Arab Emirates and we want to explore our presence, our participation in this expo to increase and consolidate these relations and, of course, expand them beyond the sectors where we are cooperating", expanding them to new areas, he pointed out, mentioning that this is also one of Mozambique's objectives in this world exposition.
The Dubai Expo, which ends on March 31, 2022, is the first major mega event since the pandemic began where 25 million visitors are expected.
Organizers of Expo 2020 Dubai have rated the first month of the event a "great success," announcing 2,350,868 visits from October 1 to 31.
This is the first time in the history of the World Expo that each country has its own pavilion - 192 in total.
