The value of bitcoin has broken records once again. This morning, the cryptocurrency was up 3.3% and exchanging hands at just over $68,000, touching a new all-time high of 68,525.84 USD, according to CoinDesk's track record. That's an appreciation of more than 130% since January.
According to the news published on the portal "Eco Online", the largest cryptocurrency passed the barrier of 68 thousand dollars overnight, and this record comes less than a month after the previous all-time high, which was recorded on October 20. At that time, each "coin" was worth $66,930.39.
On the face of it, the nearly 18.9 million units of bitcoin are valued at $1.28 trillion. In the last seven days alone, bitcoin has accumulated a gain of more than 10%, and since January, it has shot up to nearly 134% (i.e., more than doubled its dollar price).
According to the CoinTelegraph, the market value of all virtual currencies in the world reached three trillion dollars yesterday. That's an increase of 14.5% in the space of less than three weeks since the last record, and a tripling of the market value since January, when it hit $1 trillion.
