AT considers the beer sealing process irreversible

The Mozambique Tax Authority (AT) considers irreversible the process of sealing beer and other ready-to-consume beverages, which will now be subject to Excise Tax (ICE).

The AT says it will continue with the sealing measure, despite voices that say that the opening of a case has a suspensive effect, i.e. the implementation of the seal should be stopped.

"But there is an exception that may apply in this context, which is contained in Article 138(2) of the Administrative Procedure Act, where there is public interest in applying the rule," the AT said.

The Association of Producers and Importers of Alcoholic Beverages (APIBA) recently appealed to the Administrative Court (TA) to request the immediate suspension of the Ministerial Diploma number 64/2021, of July 21, which approves the regulation of Sealing of Alcoholic Beverages and Manufactured Tobacco.
