Plan International today announced the delivery of 400 school supplies to children displaced by armed violence in Cabo Delgado province.

In a statement, Plan International says that the school supplies will help displaced children return to school and continue their education.

"Unfortunately, in conflict situations, children are the most affected. We now have more than 336,000 displaced children who need rapid humanitarian response actions and Plan International is on the ground responding to the needs of the affected children," said Gerald Magashi, acting country director of Plan International Mozambique, quoted in the statement.

Magashi said that the organization is working to secure additional funds to help more children in Cabo Delgado.

Plan International's offer of school supplies is part of the organization's intervention in favor of displaced children, under a 213,800 euro program donated by the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The action is part of the "Support for the Safe Return of Internally Displaced Girls and Boys to School" project, implemented in the Montepuez district, which hosts thousands of war displaced people.

The province of Cabo Delgado, has been the scene of attacks by armed groups since 2017, described by several governments and international entities as "terrorist".

Following the attacks in Cabo Delgado, there are more than 3,100 deaths, according to the ACLED conflict registration project, and more than 817,000 displaced people, according to the authorities.
