The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation accused Venâncio Mondlane this Monday (04) of turning demonstrations into "acts of vandalism, violence and theft" with his speeches and asked the international community for "help" to re-establish "stability".
"The speeches of candidate Mondlane and his supporters created the right atmosphere for the transformation of demonstrations - a constitutional right - into acts of vandalism, theft and violence that spread throughout the country and resulted in the death of some people, arrests, looting and destruction of infrastructure and other people's property," said Verónica Macamo in a note sent to the diplomatic corps accredited in Maputo.
In a publication by VOAThe head of Mozambican diplomacy said she was concerned about "the use of citizens, many of whom are teenagers, to commit criminal acts that offend the legal norms and good customs of our people".
Macamo reiterated that the government was committed to stabilizing the situation and asked "our cooperation partners to help us restore calm, serenity and stability".
The CNE announced on October 24 that Daniel Chapo, of Frelimo, won the presidential election with more than 70%, compared to Mondlane's 20%.
In recent weeks, the main Mozambican cities have been paralyzed and on Thursday (31), Mondlane called for a large demonstration on November 7, which he calls Victory Day.
