Venâncio Mondlane announces a new phase of protests today and accuses the government of killing its citizens

The presidential candidate of PODEMOS, Venâncio Mondlane, who was the second most voted in the general elections of October 9, announced today (30), a new phase of protests called "ponta de lance", which will extend until the inauguration, which should take place in mid-January.

In an interview with CNN PortugalVenâncio Mondlane accuses the government of committing genocide by indiscriminately killing citizens who oppose it. However, he denies the possibility of arming civilians.

"There are a number of forces in Mozambique, including within the official armed forces and other militarily trained forces, who are currently making themselves available to defend the population when they are exercising their right to demonstrate," explains Mondlane.

"What I said is that we are feeling forced to accept the help of these forces that feel the need to defend the population in this genocide," he added.

Venâncio Mondlane, who is leading the biggest challenge to the election results in Mozambique since the country's first elections, also wants a new constitution.
