Presidential candidate Venâncio Mondlane said today in Maputo that he was not willing to accept government positions based on the election results announced by the Constitutional Council (CC) and not even the position of the second most voted candidate in the general elections on October 9, 2024.
"The only role I'm willing to take on is to defend and fight for the people, truth, justice and values. I didn't do all this fighting to be a boss, to get financial or material benefits," he clarified.
Mondlane stressed that even if there are negotiations to include members of his movement in an executive structure, "I will never be the one to do it".
"I will not be part of any executive that comes from these false, manipulated and mock results," he said.
On the other hand, he welcomed today's meeting between the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, and political party leaders, "even though it was exclusive".
He said that relations with the Optimist Party for the Development of Mozambique (Podemos) were continuing.
