Valige Tauabo pede vigilância à população depois dos últimos ataques em Mocímboa da Praia

A recent terrorist attack in the district of Mocímboa da Praia has rekindled a sense of fear in the communities and concern among the authorities. In this regard, the Governor of Cabo Delgado province, Valige Tauabo, recently urged the population to remain vigilant.

The village of Naquitenge was the target of an attack that left around 12 people dead and several injured. The raid, according to Lusa (via RTP)was claimed by the terrorist group Islamic State.

"Work continues normally, what happened in Naquitenge is not something to paralyze the activities and dreams of Cabo Delgado province," said Valige Tauabo on Tuesday, on the sidelines of the inauguration of the Balama graffiti warehouse in Cabo Delgado.

In Tauabo's view, this is an opportunistic attack in that the terrorists are dispersing, passing through various areas as a result of the pursuit efforts of the Defense and Security Forces. In the meantime, the Governor says that the population is moving around the district as normal.

"At the moment there is a relative calm and we salute the bravery of our Defense and Security Forces," said the governor, asking the population to remain vigilant.

On Monday, Defense Minister Cristóvão Chume classified the new rebel attack in Mocímboa da Praia as "natural and to be expected", considering that the insurgents are trying to show that they are still active after the death of the group's leader, Bonomade Machude.
