Unifeeder launches new maritime service linking Mozambique to the Middle East

Unifeeder, a subsidiary of DP World, launched earlier this month a new shipping service linking Mozambique to the Middle East and India, providing African companies with a new, fast and reliable route to lucrative export markets, says a statement to which MZNews has had access.

According to the statement, the new fortnightly interconnected service started on May 6, operating between the capital of Mozambique, Maputo, Jebel Ali in the United Arab Emirates, and Mundra on the west coast of India.

Jesper Kristensen, COO of DP World's Maritime Services Group, notes that "as a major investor in Africa, DP World is committed to providing companies across Africa with fast, cost-effective and reliable connections to global markets."

"Our new service provides faster and more reliable routes for exporters across Mozambique and inland Africa thanks to efficient connections, rail and road, from the port of Maputo to destinations such as Johannesburg, Komatipoort, Matsapha and Harare," Kristensen said, quoted in the statement.

The service consists of two ships deployed for a 28-day round trip, offering a faster transit time of only 11 days from Maputo to Jebel Ali, and 15 days from Maputo to Mundra.

It should be noted that Unifeeder is a world leader in intelligent logistics services for the entire transportation chain, promoting the flow of commerce around the world.
