The International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) today extradited Mozambican citizen Huzaifa Assane from Gaberone, Botswana, to Maputo.

Assene was arrested by Interpol on December 27, 2024 at the Tlokweng border post, a town near Gaberone.

He had been reported as a fugitive since 2017, when a car was seized with two million US dollars. The situation took place at the Ressano Garcia border crossing, when the car intended to cross into South Africa.

The Mozambican justice system was already looking for the citizen for allegedly participating in the crime of money laundering. (Source: MBC and WeekendPost-Insightful)
