A car belonging to the President of the Republic's escort overturned this morning at the Roberto Mugabe Square traffic circle, on Av. 25 de Setembro, in downtown Maputo.

A video we have seen shows a green Toyota Land Cruiser with seats in the trunk being lifted by military personnel after it overturns.

At least 10 escort officers and a doctor were at the scene. While they repositioned the vehicle, others provided support to an agent who couldn't get up on her own. The agent's state of health and how many injuries the incident caused are unknown. An ambulance car was at the scene to provide support.

The car overturned as it was going around the traffic circle to take the exit to the Ministry of Defense or Avenida Marginal, under the Alcântara Santos viaduct.

The account in the video states that the President of the Republic was passing by at the time.
