The European Union (EU) has disbursed over 60 million meticals to fund a project to monitor the funds allocated to the education sector as part of the Covid-19 prevention in the country.
The project aims to conduct a social audit and distribute Covid-19 protection material in some schools in the provinces of Cabo Delgado, Nampula, Zambezia, and Maputo City and Province.
According to the Program Officer of the Education for All Movement, Pedro Mazivila, the initiative aims to ensure better local governance and the full functioning of schools in a pandemic context.
For his part, the Director of Bagamoyo Primary School, Tomás Macare, one of the beneficiaries of the project, said that the protection and sanitation material, received this Thursday, will improve the prevention of the new Coronavirus.
In total, the project of social auditing and distribution of Covid-19 protection material will cover fifty schools.
