UAE tourism recovers from pandemic and reaches 5 billion by June

The revenue generated by the UAE tourism sector in the first half of the year exceeded 5 billion euros, a recovery from the impact of the pandemic, announced the Vice President, Mohamed bin Rashed.

"The revenue of our tourism sector is more than 19,000 million dirhams [about 5,000 million euros] in the first half of this year [...]. The UAE was the fastest to overcome the effects of the pandemic," Mohamed bin Rashed said after a Council of Ministers meeting.

The UAE vice president also anticipated an "even stronger recovery in tourism in the winter season," the best for the sector, when there is a moderate temperature of around 25 degrees, down from 45 degrees in the summer.

According to the data advanced this Sunday by the governor and quoted by Lusa, the foreign trade of the Emirates represented about 271.1 billion euros, in the period in question, above the 227.7 billion euros recorded before the pandemic of covid-19.

"Our indicators are stronger today than before the pandemic. Economic growth is faster and the tourism, trade and development sectors are bigger than before covid-19," he pointed out.
