US President Donald Trump threatened Thursday (13) the BRICS+ bloc, originally made up of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, with tariffs of 100% if they play with the dollar.

"The BRICS were created for a bad purpose. If they play with the dollar, we'll slap a 100% tariff on them the same day. If the BRICS want to play, these countries will no longer trade with us," Trump stressed at the White House.

The US President stressed that if he imposed such a tariff, these countries would beg him to withdraw it, because the BRICS bloc would die.

Trump's threat comes a week after Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva defended the right of the bloc of emerging countries to replace the dollar as the reference currency for financial transactions.
