Last week, the Maputo City Judicial Court (TJCM) ordered searches of the company Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique (LAM) and seven other companies that provide services to LAM, on suspicion of corruption.

According to the newspaper "Public"In the course of the operations, two former managers from LAM's administration, finance and logistics departments went on the run.

The searches included seven companies that provide services to LAM, some of which it owns shares in.

The court ordered the seizure of cell phones, tablets, computers and other objects of interest to the investigation. The work was carried out on the companies Biswas Flith Catering, Lda; Print4Yiy [Print4You?]; Yunayed e Travels, Lda; Muhimbi-Africa e Turismo, Lda; and Limpex Lda.

The case is pending before the Court under No. 2065/SIC/2024 and before the Public Prosecutor's Office under No. 06/GCCC/2024.

The former Director of LAM, João Carlos Pó Jorge, has been notified and will be heard this week at the Central Office for Combating Corruption (GCCC), as part of the case under investigation No. 6/11/P/GCCC/2024.

On the other hand, because there is evidence of sabotage in the work of Fly Modern Ark - the South African company hired to restructure LAM over a year ago - senior managers at the flag carrier are resigning en masse.
