Court issues search warrant for Ponta D'Ouro resort 'entrepreneur'

Tribunal emite mandado de busca e captura do ‘empresário’ de resort na Ponta D’Ouro

The Matutuine District Court has issued a warrant for the search and arrest of businessman José Luís Timba, owner of the "Baleia à Vista Resort", in Ponta D'Ouro, which disputes the ownership of beach houses with South African investors. For the time being, Timba has been indicted for repeated disobedience to judicial authority and other serious crimes.

The court judge, Ludovina Mário, based her ruling on a request from the Matutuine Public Prosecutor's Office, according to which the businessman banned people from entering and leaving the establishment on April 7 by deploying a private security force.

The security force also prevented workers from entering the resort and another security force hired by South African investors who claim ownership of the infrastructure (beach houses) built there.

Write the Sunday that tempers flared between the old workers and Timba's employees. Timba, who was in Maputo City at the time, allegedly ordered a "bloodbath" because the resort had been sold to new owners.

The businessman then allegedly recruited young men to join a new private security force to be set up there. Those targeted began training in an area called "Boma", adjacent to the resort.

As a result, the Matutuine Public Prosecutor's Office believes that Timba has endangered public order and tranquillity, as well as disobeying the orders issued by the court, given that he has already been tried and convicted of contempt and disputing the same beach houses.
