Almost 80% of the 14 billion dollars needed for the liquefied natural gas megaproject in Cabo Delegado province has already been secured.
The information was provided by the chairman of TotalEnergies himself, Patrick Pouyanné, quoted by the international press.
Patrick Pouyanné, who is due to visit Maputo later this month, recognizes progress on the ground in the fight against terrorism.
In a meeting with investors on Wednesday, the chairman of Total Energies also highlighted the "alliance" between Mozambique and Rwanda, which guarantees security in the area where the project will be installed, on the Afungi peninsula.
Mozambique has three projects approved to exploit the natural gas reserves in the Rovuma basin, which are among the largest in the world.
Total Energies leads the Area 1 consortium, where construction is underway on a plant in Afungi, near Palma, for the production and export of natural gas, now suspended due to the terrorist attacks.
